Company foundation

Armin Schorer founded the company AMS. By now, the product range comprises a large spectrum of surgical instruments for the whole operational field.


AMS – ASANUS Medizintechnik GmbH

The company’s name AMS is changed to “ASANUS Medizintechnik GmbH”.

Beginnings of the ASANUS Software

The ASANUS Software for the management of reparation in clinics is developed.

Worldwide cooperation

Setting up of an extensive microsurgical cardiac and vascular surgical instruments in cooperation with worldwide prominent surgeons. Development of the titanium vascular forceps in cooperation with Mr Dr Fischer from Stuttgart-Feuerbach brought the first new standard in vascular surgery.

TITANIT – the new standard for cutting instruments

Development of the TITANIT scissors which is distinguished for its high durability and its perpetual constant cutting quality.


Further development of the modules BarMat and LeitDoc

ASANUS develops the first document management “LeitDoc” and the first software for material ordering “BarMat” in hospital logistics. First successful introduction into the market of the ASANUS BarCon Software. Development and successful introduction into the market by ASANUS of the first version for instruments tracking software system in CSSD with OP-networking, connected with a communication platform.

Slim Line and Micro Slim Line scissors

Development of the Slim Line and Micro Slim Line with the Cardiac and Pedriatric cardiac surgeons of the university hospital Helsinki. Micro Slim Line ring handle scissors were developed with Professor Magometschnigg, head of vascular department of the University Hospital Salzburg, Austria.

Explicit labelling on surgical instruments

The first attempts of an explicit labelling with Datamatrix Code and RFID Chip on surgical instruments as well as additional extension of the ASANUS Software for the processing of explicit serial numbers on instruments is tested and further refined.


Continuous extension of the BarCon Software as operation process
software for CSSD and OP

For the first time it is possible to illustrate inter-divisional processes in a networked real-time transparency.

Services through reorganisation of surgical instrument sets

First-time carrying out by ASANUS Medizintechnik GmbH of the first SIM (System Instruments Management) connected with a reorganisation of surgical instrument sets. Successful result leads to a 50 % reduction of all the instruments in the entire existing cycle.


The BarCon Case Cart Software is created

The BarCon Mawi Module is created as Case Cart Software System with automatical material logistics. This is worldwide the first integrated Software system with Case Cart and instrument tracking management.

The first ARIS RFID Chip system

First ARIS RFID Chip system of ASANUS which can be implemented on metal in surgical instruments and read in short ranges.


The ASANUS family founds another head office

The “ASANUS SA” is founded in South Africa as a new and additional head office.

ASANUS creates new standards

With the automated demand processing in CSSD and Operation Theaters as well as the related monitoring, the ASANUS BarCon Software version 4.0. enables networked working in clinical operation and working areas.


Economic efficiency and cost optimisation through ASANUS Software

It is possible to establish fully automatically full operating costs in a CSSD, up to the single product in detail and the cost units, as well as to assign them to places of performance. Now Implants in plates and screw racks can be recorded visually and automatically in the Operation Theater and they can be booked to cases and cost unit.


Breakthrough for the electronical registration of surgical instruments and devices

Due to a further development of the ASANUS ARIS RFID Chip System a complete automation in instrument management, as well as in complete material logistics, is now possible together with the ASANUS BarCon Software. Extremely fast reading with very high ranges enables the hospitals optimally controllable processes for surgical instruments and consumables.


For the first time, the ASANUS BarCon software, a completely integrated, digitally networked case cart logistics system, will be put into operation at Charité Mitte in December.

The ASANUS BarCon software centrally controls the entire supply logistics in the OR of all sterile consumables and surgical instruments in real time. The BarCon software also checks the availability of the surgical planning in real time and supervises it digitally via monitoring.


ASANUS earns ‘Innovation 4.0’ award

ASANUS is honored for its BarCon Software and ARIS RFID Chip technology. This technology enables a holistic networking of complex processes over several functional departments for the very first time. The ASANUS BarCon software uses artificial intelligence to dynamically pack and monitor surgical instrument trays with RFID chip marked instruments in the CSSD area with multiple instrument types.

The ASANUS BarCon software makes it possible in a hospital for staff in the CSSD to always pack the correct instrument models into the tray. Missing instruments in the instrument tray are a thing of the past. In the OR, work can now be carried out quickly and efficiently without having to search for instruments and with the certainty of having all instruments.

The use of the instruments in the operating theatre becomes transparent for the first time and thus the efficiency of individual manufacturers as well as the complete traceability from patient to reprocessing to the manufacturer and his manufacturer batches. The prerequisites for fulfilling the new MDR requirements have been created with the use of the ASANUS BarCon Software.


The new ASANUS splintTAG RFID chip solution has been launched. For the first time, an absolutely secure attachment of an RFID chip for surgical instruments on a very small area has been developed and implemented by ASANUS. This is regarded as a breakthrough for the realization of individual marking with RFID chips on surgical instruments. This paves the way for the simple and fast digital recording of great amounts of surgical instruments and the unhesitating monitoring of their applications in the CSSD as well as in the OR during electronic counting control.
